Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has today told a press conference that versatile defender John O'Shea will be deployed at right back for the club's Champions League final showdown with Barcelona in Rome on May 27.

Ferguson believes O'Shea has been a "fantastic professional" and deserves the chance of permanently ousting former incumbent of the full-back berth, defensive organiser Gary Neville.

The iron-willed Scot said, "He can play anywhere for me: all along the back four, midfield, he's even played in goal for a short period, and because of injuries to Gary and Wes [Brown] he's been a permanent fixture.

"He takes his place in Rome because he deserves it, because he is ahead of everyone now.

"He is a fantastic, top professional."

O'Shea, 28, is a member of an exclusive club who have played in every position in United's line-up, including goalkeeper and striker.
