Wigan Athletic utility player Paul Scharner has yet another Premier League suitor in Fulham, according to The News of the World.

The Austrian defender has been attracting the interest of a number of clubs this season for his ability to play anywhere in the midfield and defence, and clubs have started the summer race for his signature.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has now entered the chase, and hopes to tie up a deal for the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Reports suggested that the Austria international was close to signing a deal with the Cottagers last summer, but he opted to sign a new deal with the Latics.

The former Salzburg player has been interesting the likes of Newcastle United this season, and he was also recently linked with a move to Germany's Bundesliga.

The Austrian has reportedly stated that he would like to move from the JJB Stadium, and may favour a move to London, with Hodgson gearing up for a potential Europa League place next season.

The Austrian player joined Wigan in 2006 for a fee of £2.5 million from Norwegian side Brann, and has since made 107 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
