Gareth Bale Glad To Be Back For Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Gareth Bale made a comeback in first-team colours against Everton on Saturday, when the Lilywhites were held to a goalless draw by David Moyes's hard-grafting outfit.

Manager Harry Redknapp decided to employ a 5-3-2 formation for the occasion, and Bale was delighted to slot into a left wing-back role which gave him the freedom to indulge his predilection for marauding forward.

The Welshman also reminded supporters of the threat he poses from dead-ball situations, with an effort from his feared left-foot curling just over the bar in the first half.

"It was great to be back out there and playing again," he revealed to the club's official website.

"You get that lift from the noise of the fans and I really enjoyed it. The system suited me as I was able to get forward."

As for the result, the Cardiff-born 19-year-old felt that a share of the spoils was fair enough for a game to which neither side could lay claim to dominating.

"We controlled the first half, created a few chances and could have scored," he added.

"The second half was difficult and they started to pin us back a bit. Overall, a draw was a fair result."
