Arsene Wenger Rejects Manchester City - Reports
The Gunners boss has emerged as a surprise candidate to take over at Eastlands, if you believe one British tabloid...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly rejected the chance to move to Manchester City next season, after the club allegedly made him an offer to become their manager, according to The Daily Star.
The Citizens are rumoured to be on the lookout for a new boss, after Mark Hughes' inconsistent season, which may see the club just about clinch a Europa League spot.
Gunners boss Wenger apparently topped a shortlist of managers that City want, a list that is also said to include Liverpool's Rafael Benitez and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, now in charge at Inter.
According to the report, the 59-year-old Gunners boss has also turned down Real Madrid and Bayern Munich this season, signalling his intention to stay at Arsenal and turn them into a successful club again after a period of transition at Emirates Stadium.
Mark Hughes' job may, or may not, be safe for another year, with no-one really knowing if City's new owners are prepared to be patient with the club or not.
The Daily Star admitted that Wenger has not been approached directly by City, but claim that reports suggest that third parties have made enquiries to assess the availability of the Frenchman.
