Michael Carrick Wants More Of The Same From Manchester United

Michael Carrick knows that while the midfield battle may have been won on home soil, United have to do the same at the Emirates.

Manchester United overran Arsenal in the centre of the pitch last week at Old Trafford in their 1-0 victory in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash, but Michael Carrick insists that the war is still to be won in north London.

Carrick lined-up alongside Anderson and Darren Fletcher during last Wednesday's Champions League win over Arsenal with each player playing a key role in shutting out Arsenal's direct play.

The England international has been quoted by uefa.com as saying that the midfield personnel deployed this week will have to perform to the same standard as in the first leg.

"The midfield is a key department," began Carrick.

"The game can be won and lost in that area.

"But we have to start afresh tomorrow and do the right things all over again. We know the job we have to do and I am sure it will be a very fast and intense game and a good one to watch.

"Hopefully it is a good game but we won't be carried away with the occasion; we know what we want to do and will go about our business."

Carrick has had the privilege of seeing his team reach the CL semi-finals for the third consecutive year since his arrival from Tottenham in 2006, and the 27-year-old believes this type of experience could go in United's favour.

"You get a bit of experience that obviously helps, but with it being a one-off game tomorrow night, who knows, it can go either way. They have very good players not only in midfield but throughout the team."
