Arsenal's Manuel Almunia Wants 'Predictable' Chelsea In Champions League Final
The Spanish goalkeeper believes the Gunners have a better chance of beating the Blues than Barcelona because they know exactly what their London neighbours are about...
The Spaniard has said that the Gunners have already sussed out their west London neighbours, suggesting that they would get the better of the match against a team who he claims lack creativity.
"In the final I would want Chelsea. They are more predictable, whereas Barcelona have greater resources," Almunia is quoted as saying by The Sun.
"We know what Chelsea are like. We have them measured. They wouldn’t surprise us.
"Our semi-final, first leg with Manchester United was much better than Chelsea’s against Barcelona. Chelsea just went to Spain to defend and it made for a boring game.
"They showed that all they wanted was a 0-0 result. Our manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t know how to put a team together that isn’t going for a win."
Arsenal trail Manchester United 1-0 from the first leg, which was played at Old Trafford on Wednesday, but the 31-year-old is confident of turning the result around at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.
“United wanted to seal the game at home but didn’t manage it and our morale is high,” he explained.
"We have a great home record this season and I know we can get through to the final."
Rather astonishingly, the former Osasuna, Sabadell and Celta Vigo custodian appeared to launch an attack on Chelsea's fans for their lack of support.
“They say their fans are ghosts,” he said. “You don’t see or hear them. A lot of people travel with English teams and it surprised me that not many Chelsea supporters went to Spain for their tie with Barcelona.”
