Sporting CP Midfielder Miguel Veloso In Talks With Manchester City
Manchester City have joined the ranks of those interested in Sporting midfielder Miguel Veloso.
The January transfer window offered much in the way of rumoured links to the Premier League for Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso, and now, Manchester City have added themselves to the list of clubs interested.
Sport.co.uk have reported an offer made to Veloso's club in Lisbon to sit around the €15 million mark, a figure sure to entice the midfielder towards the City of Manchester Stadium.
With the 22-year-old's contract due to expire with Sporting in the summer, Veloso's agent Paulo Barbosa has admitted to having talks with the wealthy English club.
"We have had some talks with Manchester City, yes," said Barbosa. "I am still in contact with the clubs who were interested in January.
"There is an agreement with Sporting that he will leave this summer, but we don't have an agreement with any other club [about a transfer] as yet.
"England is his first choice, and he already speaks good English. Everything is possible at the moment."
His spirited performances for Sporting during last season's Champions League earned Veloso plaudits from clubs around the world, especially after shutting down Inter's Patrick Vieira and Luis Figo during a 1-0 home win in Portugal.
Arsenal and Tottenham were amongst the teams linked to the young player, but Barbosa attests that City are spearheading the race for his signature.
