Lyon's Karim Benzema Back On Manchester United's Radar – Report
The Red Devils are looking to take the French international to Old Trafford at the end of this season having missed out on him last summer...
According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Premier League giants Manchester United are eyeing an end of season move for Lyon's Karim Benzema.
Apparently, the Red Devils were interested in signing the 21-year-old last summer but were unwilling to meet les Gones' €44.2 million (£40m) valuation and instead opted to purchase Dimitar Berbatov.
However, United are hopeful that OL will decrease their asking price for the 22-time capped France international during the close season.
It is claimed that Lyon may have to consider selling their prized asset should they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League. Lyon are currently third in Ligue 1, just one point ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, but only one point behind second placed Bordeaux at the same time.
The news, if true, is likely to raise further question marks with regard to Carlos Tevez's future at Old Trafford.
The Argentina international's loan deal is due to expire at the end of the season and it is alleged that United will not buy his economic rights if they feel they have a chance of landing Benzema.
It is said that Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson sent scouts to watch the young Frenchman, who has scored 40 goals in 107 league games, in action at the weekend.
