Walcott, Carrick, & Ferdinand Back FA Scheme To Raise Awareness For Bowel Cancer
A host of England internationals are helping to raise awareness of the disease that claimed the life of England's only World Cup-winning captain.
Six prominent England internationals, including pacy forward Theo Walcott; deep-lying ball-pinger Michael Carrick; Manchester United stand-in captain Rio Ferdinand; first-choice glovesman David James; burgeoning full back Micah Richards; and diminutive winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, are aiding an FA-endorsed scheme that is raising awareness of bowel cancer - a disease that kills 44 people every day.
'There Is Moore To Know' is a campaign created by the Team England charity, in conjunction with Cancer Research UK, whose primary aim is to alert people to the shocking statistics involved in the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in Britain.
The series of advertisements will target its audience by highlighting the symptoms involved with bowel cancer - the disease that killed England's World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore - and how one can go about reducing the risk.
The campaign will play on football themes, as James will be behind its 'saving lives' motif; Ferdinand and Richards will alert readers to how to 'defend your body'; Carrick and Wright-Phillips back the part on 'passing the message on'; while Walcott shows how you can 'attack the disease'.
