Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o Spurns Opportunity To Join Manchester City – Report
Apr 23, 2009 10:40:01 AM
The Cameroon international striker has rejected a €39 million move to the Citizens to remain at the Camp Nou...
According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o has rejected the chance to move to Premier League club Manchester City. The Cameroon international's future at the Camp Nou has been called into question as his contract with the Primera Division giants is due to expire next summer.
It has been rumoured that the Blaugrana may offer his services to major European forces at the end of this season as they do not want to risk losing him for nothing next year.
However, the prolific 28-year-old, who has scored 26 goals in 29 league games this campaign, has made it clear that he wants to stay with Barca, dashing City's hopes of completing a €39 million (£35m) transfer.
"Samuel is happy at Barcelona and, despite the interest from England, he wants to stay," an inside source is quoted as saying.
