Newcastle United's Shola Ameobi Wanted By Hull City
The Tigers are reportedly ready to make the gangly Magpies striker their first signing in the summer...
Hull City are on the trail of Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi, according to News of the World.
The gangly centre forward has enjoyed a good spell in the Magpies first team since returning from injury and it is thought that Tigers manager Phil Brown wants to make a move for him in the summer.
The 27-year-old has spent his whole career at St. James' Park, but has never really established himself as a first team member of the squad, and with the turmoil currently at the club, he may decide that a move is the best option for his career.
Both Hull and Newcastle are in real danger of being relegated this season, and it is thought that a decision on the deal will not be made until both club's futures are known.
Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has been a fan of Ameobi, using him a fair amount in his squad this season, but it is not known whether the 62-year-old will want to keep him as the Magpies gear up for another action packed transfer window, possibly with a new manager.
Ameobi has been at St. James' park since 2000, and has since managed just 189 Premier League appearances for the club due to several long-term injuries.
