Christopher Samba Warns Blackburn Against Losing Focus
'Just don't let up now!', was Samba's message to his fellow Rovers...
Christopher Samba has warned his Blackburn team-mates to not rest on their laurels now that they have managed to put some light of day between themselves and the relegation zone.
The Congo defender was one of the heroes for the Rovers last weekend acting admirably as a makeshift forward, but he tempered some of the euphoria surrounding his side after the dramatic turnaround of their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur by insisting that a five point cushion is hardly one at all.
“In The Premier League anything can happen - look at Fulham beating Manchester United the other week. I don’t think anyone would have expected that," Samba was quoted as saying in the Lancashire Telegraph.
“We cannot count on other teams losing or dropping points. We have to continue doing things ourselves and making sure we get ourselves out of trouble, rather than worry about other teams helping us out.
“If we stay out of the bottom three, we will have done what we wanted. If we don’t and get dragged back down there then it is our fault, no-one else’s.”
“You never know what will happen in other games," he added. "There are crazy results, look at Middlesbrough beating Liverpool.
"It is a crazy league. Everyone can beat everyone so we have to concentrate on being the best in our game and winning that game.”
