Blackburn Sweating On Jason Roberts Scan Results
Rovers could be down to just one recognised striker unless the injury suffered by their Grenadian hitman on Saturday proves to be just superficial...
Blackburn Rovers are hoping that their dramatic victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday did not come at the cost of losing Jason Roberts for the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old was forced to discontinue the match at half-time and the initial prognosis is that the striker may have suffered a broken metatarsal, which is a notoriously tough injury to get over.
Roberts told Radio Rovers, "I've got a bit of a problem with my foot but I don't know exactly what it is so I'll need to go for a scan.
"I felt it after 20 minutes, and in the end I had to come off.
"It may keep me out but we'll have an MRI scan and see."
Any sort of prolonged absence would be a major blow for the still relegation threatened Blackburn, as Benni McCarthy would be the only recognised striker reliably available as Roque Santa Cruz continues to struggle with problems associated with tendinitis.
