Guus Hiddink Still Haunted By Tottenham Hotspur Defeat
The Dutchman claims that the loss at Spurs has to go down as a low point of his tenure at Stamford Bridge...
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has stated that the defeat his side suffered at Tottenham Hotspur last month could make the difference in this seasons title race.
Spurs beat the Blues 1-0 at White Hart Lane thanks to a superb Luka Modric strike which resulted in Chelsea losing ground on Liverpool and Manchester United in the title race.
Hiddink's side now sit in third place just three points behind league leaders Liverpool, and still have a chance of claiming the Premier League trophy for a third time.
The Russia manager has stated that the defeat to Spurs was something he regrets, but emphasised that the Blues could not drop anymore points for the remainder of the season.
Speaking to Football365, Hiddink said, "We said before that we are still in the title race but now we regret even more that we lost points against Spurs. We have to keep fighting and keep the pressure on the teams above us.
"The pressure is also on us not to spoil more points, as we did against Spurs. We have to keep winning and with two home games now coming up we have to keep the pressure on and let's see what happens.
"We have a lot of very big games coming up and it's nice. It's April and May and it's the finish of the season and it's going to be very challenging for everyone."
The Blues next challenge is their Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool at Anfield, which promises to be an intriguing match up, before their next Premier League game against Bolton Wanderers, who still have relegation fears, and will prove to be stiff opposition for Hiddink's men.
