The Dutch international believes the strength of England's top tier can be unquestionable due to the performances of the top four in Europe...

Liverpool's versatile forward Ryan Babel believes the performances of the Premier League representatives in the current edition of the Champions League is testament to the might of the English division over leagues such as Spain's La Primera, and Italy's Serie A.

The Reds stormed to a riotous and convincing 5-0 aggregate humbling of European giants Real Madrid in the round of 16 to progress to the final eight, while Manchester United beat Internazionale by a three goal score-line without one answer from the Italians, Chelsea downed Juventus by a 3-2 aggregate result, and Arsenal required penalties to see off Roma.

Speaking in LFC Magazine, Babel proudly declared that these results show that he is competing in the best league on the continent. "This tells us that the Premier League is the best league in the world and probably has been for a couple of years now.

"That's very positive for the level of the game in England. I believe it will get even better in future too. Beating Real Madrid home and away as we did would back this up," he said.

"The way people talk about Madrid as the biggest club with the best players and playing the best football, we showed that at the moment we are much better than them.

"This is why I say the Premier League is the best league in the world," he concluded.

Liverpool were pitted against Chelsea in the quarter-final draw, the first leg is contested at Stamford Bridge on April 8. Arsenal face Villarreal, and Manchester United take on FC Porto.
