Jonathan Greening Fired Up For West Bromwich's 'Do-Or-Die' Encounter With Stoke
West Brom's on-field boss is convinced that his side can go on to pull off a great escape...
West Bromwich skipper Jonathan Greening has acknowledged that the Baggies will almost certainly go down unless they beat fellow strugglers Stoke on Saturday but at the same time insisted that he and his team-mates are up to the task.
With just eight games to go in their season West Brom are bottom of the Premier League and a full seven points from safety, so anything less than maximum points against a direct relegation rival will effectively serve as the final nail in their coffin.
In looking forward to the Stoke clash, Greening, who has been one of the most vocal proponents of West Brom's survival chances of late told the Birmingham Mail: "It's a massive, massive game.
"I know everyone says the next game is big but if we can put a good performance in and get the three points it will totally put the pressure on other teams, even Stoke again because they've had a good few results recently.
"It will show the rest of the teams we're not giving up without a fight and we'll go to the end.
"If we didn't beat Stoke it wouldn't mathematically put us down and take Stoke out of the equation - but then we'd probably have to win the games against Sunderland, Portsmouth and Blackburn and it would be difficult.
"It will be one of the biggest games I've played in," he thundered.
"We'll be working hard this week to get into a good position to face Stoke.
"We cross the white line and if we don't perform it's our fault."
