Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa To Miss Portugal's South Africa Friendly

The flying full-back will miss the encounter with next summer's World Cup hosts after sustaining a gash in Portugal's World Cup qualifier last night...

Bosingwa - Portugal
Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa has been ruled out of Portugal's next game against South Africa after suffering a gash to his leg in their 0-0 draw with Sweden.

The 26-year-old missed the second half of the World Cup qualifier with Sweden as a result and it has been confirmed that he will not be available for selection against Bafana Bafana.

The Portugal team doctor Henrique Jones has said that Bosingwa is out of Wednesday's game, and is unsure of how long the former Porto star will remain  sidelined.

Speaking to French magazine L'Equipe, Jones said, "Bosingwa has suffered a gash on his left leg.

"He will definitely miss the next game."

The 26-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge last summer, and thrived under then new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, but after the Brazilian coach was sacked from the job after only eight months in charge, the Portuguese full-back's form has faltered.

The DR Congo-born player has made 29 Premier League appearances for the club since his £16.3 million move, scoring two goals.
