Arsene Wenger Defends Decision To Stick With Young Guns At Arsenal

The tactician believes he was right to give younger players a chance to shine this season...
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes the decision to standby his young guns has started to pay off, insisting he was always right.

The Gunners manager was heavily criticised after allowing a number of first team players to leave at the end of last season and doing little to replace them with players of similar quality and experience.

After a rough and tumble ride in the Premier League, the north London outfit are finally on course for a fourth place finish. They are also involved in the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.

The manager was keen to stress that he knows what's best for his side after enduring heavy criticism.

"I knew when I decided to go for a young team what would hit me," Wenger told the club's official website.

"I was prepared for that. I am pleased that I was not wrong but we have a long way to go and a lot to improve."

Arsenal are currently fourth in the league, three points ahead of Aston Villa. The Gunners’ next match is against Manchester City on Saturday week.
