Fit-Again Habib Beye Ready To Go To The Trenches For Newcastle
Habib Beye is ready to do risk life and limb to keep Newcastle afloat...
Habib Beye is ready and willing to be thrown right back into the deep end as Newcastle fight for their very Premier League existences.
The Senegal international has just recovered from a shattered ankle which he suffered as a result of a tackle from Wigan Athletic's Lee Cattermole on Boxing Day, and he is showing no signs of wanting to be eased back in gradually.
"We have eight games and 24 points to play for. It doesn't matter who we play, we must try to get points from every game to save the club because that is all that's important," Beye thundered on Newcastle's official website.
"For me, I have been out for a long time but I feel good and will use the break to work on my condition.
"I have to be ready to play every game and I will be ready.
"It is a bonus for me to be able to play because we thought I would be out for longer.
"Now I am back I will be doing all I can to save this club."
The Geordies will certainly take strength from the earlier than expected return to fitness of Beye, who came on as a second-half substitute in Saturday's stinging 3-1 home defeat by Arsenal.
