According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, Fabio Capello has responded to the news that LA Galaxy are to ask David Beckham not to play in certain England friendlies by insisting he picks the squad.
The England manager is apparently keen to make it known that he plans to give no players special treatment regardless of their situation.
"Fabio Capello has no plans to make any special exemption with regard to the call-up of any players for England squads," an FA spokesman is quoted as saying.
Ironically, Beckham is thought to have pushed through an agreement between LA Galaxy and Milan which allows him to stay with the Italian giants until the end of the Serie A season to boost his chances of prolonging his career with the Three Lions.
With the 33-year-old set to return to America in July, he is likely to be available for just 13 of the Galaxy's 30 MLS fixtures in the upcoming season.
Therefore, manager Bruce Arena is thought to have asked the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder to miss England's friendlies against Holland on 12August and Slovenia on 5 September.
