Gascoigne Turns To Cryotherapy In Bid To Overcome Alcohol Addiction
Paul Gascoigne is undergoing body-freezing treatments in order to rid himself of alcoholism...
Fallen football legend Paul Gascoigne's long-standing battle against booze has been no secret as personal, and shocking, details of his alcoholism have long been documented. A possible nadir of which included buying a round of drinks for two plastic parrots, positioned on his shoulders, who he believed were complaining of thirst.
In a bid to overcome his addictions the former Tottenham Hotspur hotshot is currently undergoing radical treatments involving cryotherapy that will see him enter a chamber cooled to temperatures as low as -125C, where his body temperature will temporarily plummet to around 13C.
One source is alleged to have told the Mirror, "During the sessions, Gazza has to keep moving or his heart could stop. It lasts three minutes before he is led to a heated exercise room to use a bike and get his temperature up.
"Unlike massage or aromatherapy, cryotherapy is not a particularly relaxing or pleasurable experience."
Gascoigne, 41, has been spending part of his rehabilitation in Tony Adams' famed Sporting Chance clinic.
The source added, "Paul is feeling like a new man. He has also been using sunbeds a lot as these make him look and feel better about himself. He says he feels exhilarated and revitalised after a freeze session, and sees it as a miracle cure to beat his mood swings."
