Emmanuel Eboue Believes Arsenal Can Win Champions League

Emmanuel Eboue has insisted that writing off Arsenal's Champions League hopes would be foolish.

Arsenal’s Emmanuel Eboue has insisted that the Gunners can still claim the Champions League despite struggling for form in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger’s side were held to their fourth successive goalless draw in the league yesterday by Fulham at the Emirates.

The result leaves them in fifth place, five points behind Aston Villa in the race to finish in the top four and qualify for Champions League football for next season.

However, the Gunners are well-placed to make it through to the quarter-finals of Europe’s top competition, having beaten Roma 1-0 in midweek in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Eboue insisted that his team-mates all still believe they can claim win the Champions League, despite struggling on the domestic front.

“I can't say we will win the Champions League - but we believe as players that we can win it.

“The tournament is important to every player in the world so you have to believe.”

Eboue featured in the win over Roma and missed a gilt-edged chance after the break to double his side’s lead before being substituted late on.

The Ivorian admitted he was hopeful he had impressed the Emirates crowd, after being jeered by them early on in the season.

“Against Roma, I did my best to show the fans I am not a bad player. When I was booed, it hurt,” explained the Gunner.

“I was very disappointed. But now I forget all about that and I move forward.”

Next up for Eboue and Arsenal is a trip to the Premier League’s bottom side West Bromwich Albion.
