Cech: Inter Were Following Me

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed that Inter were interested in signing him while he was still at Rennes.

Cech left Rennes in 2004 to sign for Chelsea, and he immediately dislodged Carlo Cudicini as the club’s first team goalkeeper.

“He is my best friend at Chelsea now,” Cech told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We also play tennis. He got over very quickly the natural disappointment. We have a similar character. Carlo is a great.”

Best Goalkeepers in World

Cech and Gianluigi Buffon are regarded by many as the two best goalkeepers in the world. The 25-year-old was asked who he thought were the next best three after them.

"Casillas has been brilliant in recent seasons,” he stated.

“I would also include Dida, who did so much for Milan, before his injury. And then there is Van der Sar.”

Inter

Finally Cech was asked if he could ever see himself playing in the Italian league, following rumours earlier this week that Milan were interested in him.

"At Rennes, I was told that Inter were watching me. But nothing concrete came of it. I still have two years left of my contract. Then we will see what happens," he concluded.
