Desailly: Grant Deserves Continuity
Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly believes that it would be both unjust and a mistake for the the London club to send Avram Grant packing in the summer even if they end up finishing the season trophyless.
When Jose Mourinho departed in September, Chelsea were staring down the barrel of disaster. There were cries of exodus, the end of an era and the downfall of the Blues. However, eight months on, Avram Grant is going strong, and has his side on the cusp of an unprecedented double.
This is more than enough to keep Grant in the job, said Chelsea's former rock of a defender.
He said: "Chelsea should give Grant the job now to give him peace, but more importantly to give him power in front of the players. Grant deserves it for what he has done this season. They should give him the deal because then he will have the power to bring his own players to the club.
"It is going to be very difficult for Chelsea to win both trophies, but they have a chance. They are on a good run and they are in good form. Grant has done well. It is not easy being a manager at this level but he has handled things well."
