Brazilian Rivaldo ponders retirement after injury at his Angolan club

The former World Cup winner may bid farewell to the sport after injuring himself while playing for his club side and has been ruled out for the rest of the season
Former Brazil international Rivaldo has announced he may have to retire from football after suffering a fall while playing for Kabuscorp in the Angolan domestic league, which left him with intense pain in both shoulders.
Rivaldo suffered from bruising on the right shoulder and his ribs, and the medical staff have asked him to undergo seven to 10 days of physiotherapy in order to recover.
“With this injury, the season is practically over for me in Angola. I have to think if I stop playing or if I continue for another year,” he said on Twitter.
The 40-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Angolan side early this year and has earned 15 appearances, scoring 11 goals.
The former Barcelona star was named World Footballer of the Year in 1999, and also contributed to Brazil's 2002 World Cup success.
Perhaps most famously, Rivaldo will be remembered for a wonderful hat-trick he scored against Valencia for the Blaugrana, with his third goal - an overhead kick - clinching the final Champions League spot for the Catalans in 2001.
