ASO Chlef (Algeria) 0-1 ES Sahel (Tunisia)
Visiting Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia stunned their Algerian hosts ASO Chlef with a one-goal victory in the Caf Champions League group phase opener that began during the weekend.
The 2007 title winners took the lead early in the seventh minute through a header from 23-year-old midfielder Aymen Belaid, following a well taken free kick delivered by Mossaab Sassi.
Sunshine Stars (Nigeria) 0-2 Esperance (Tunisia)
Title holders Esperance began their run in the group phase with a two-goal away victory over Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars to provisionally keep a stranglehold on Group A.
Ghana’s Harrison Afful was Man of the Match as he delivered assists to both Youssef Msakni and Cameroonian-import Yannick Ndjeng, who scored the goals for the Blood and Gold in the 20th and 45th minutes respectively.

Berekum Chelsea (Ghana) 3-2 Zamalek (Egypt)
On Saturday in Accra two players stood out to decide the proceedings as Ghana’s 2011 champs Berekum Chelsea hosted Egyptian top flight side Zamalek. Burkina Faso-import Abdoulaye Cisse put the north Africans ahead twice, with Ghana international Emmanuel Clottey cancelling the visitors’ lead each time before hitting a last minute goal to complete his astonishing hat-trick.
Al Ahly (Egypt) 2-1 TP Mazembe (DR Congo)
Egypt’s Al Ahly were able to pull off a late win over TP Mazembe after the Congolese visitors restored parity in the 86th minute and seemed set to share the spoils with on a 1-1 scoreline.
Egypt international striker Emad Moteab opened the scoring for the six-time Caf champions 12 minutes from time only for his side to suffer the Corbeaux’s domination until the last five minutes of the game when Tanzania’s Mbwana Samata pulled level for Mazembe, who were carried away with joy, allowing Mohamed Nagy to hit in a 92th minute winner.
