The Lionesses of Cameroon receive qualification bonuses

The west African country's women's football national team have been rewarded financially for their recent efforts
The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Thursday received the sum of 5 million FCFA (€7,622) as qualification bonuses for the 2012 Women's African Nations Cup, which will take place in November in Equatorial Guinea.Each player is entitled to the sum of €304. The money was handed over to the team captain Francoise Bella, by Francis Mveng, first vice-president of the Cameroon football Federation (Fecafoot).
In his speech, the vice-president hailed the ladies for their performance which he described as the reconstruction of Cameroon’s football, and admits the sum of money given out remains “symbolic”.
The Lionesses beat Ghana (10-9) on a penalty shootout last Sunday to qualify for the final phase of the tournament.
They still await payments of bonuses for their participation at the last All Africa games which took place in Maputo, Mozambique of which they came out winners in women football.
