The Cote D’Ivoire captain now holds the record of the world’s top scorer of the 21th century besting German Miroslav Klose and Dutchman "Ruud" van Nistelrooij

Cote D’Ivoire captain Didier Drogba was on Wednesday named the 21th century top scorer by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), which chronicles the history and records of association football.

The Chelsea striker has 92 goals scored in international matches and competitions, which were totalled from the past 11 year, to put him ahead of German Miroslav Klose, 88 and Dutchman "Ruud" van Nistelrooij, 87, who both led up to 2010.

Two other Africans made the Top 10 of goal-getters: Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o (84) and Angolan Flávio Amado (74).

Below is the list of the Top 10 top scorers of the 21sth century, according to the IFFHS.

1) Didier Drogba (Cote D’Ivoire) – 92 goals.

2) Miroslav Klose (Germany) – 88 goals.

3) Rutgerus Johannes Martinius Van Nistelrooij (The Netherlands) – 87 goals.

4) Thierry Henry (France) – 85 goals.
