thumbnail Hello,

The Pharaoh’s matches against Uganda and Kenya will not take place this month due to continuing security concerns

Egypt’s friendlies against Uganda and Kenya were officially called off on Sunday when the ministry of interior judged that the security situation in the country was still too fragile to host matches in the wake of the Port Said tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 74 people.

The news follows the Confederation of African Football (Caf) acceptance of the Egyptian Football Association’s (EFA) request to postpone their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against the Central African Republic, which was originally scheduled for February 29, until June 30.

Thus, Pharaohs coach Bob Bradley will have to make due with his ongoing Cairo-based training camp to get his squad ready for continental qualifying. Meanwhile, the latest decision also casts doubt upon the date when the Egyptian Premier League will restart without fans in the stands.
