The former Pharaohs has decided to sign a two-year contract despite a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia’s Ittihad
Former Egyptian national team coach Hassan Shehata has signed a fresh two-year contract with his current team, Zamalek, according to the club’s official website. The coach had earlier confirmed reports that he was in discussions with Ittihad but has evidently backed away from the Saudi Arabian side’s offer.
“It shows the love, respect and loyalty of Hassan Shehata to the great club he represented for years,” said board member Abdullah George while speaking to the White Knights’ official website.
Shehata’s decision was somewhat unexpected considering his recent statement to local media claiming that he does not “focus on financial aspects at all but the turbulent conditions in Egypt do not encourage anyone to continue here.”
