The coach says that his salary has nothing to do with his survival in the role of manager for the Super Eagles and he will not take a slash to his €22,723 monthly salary
After the failure of the team to qualify for next January’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament, Siasia’s continued tenure has come under speculation as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to meet later this week.
It has been speculated that the 44-year-old could take a 50 per cent slash to his €22,723 monthly salary.
“Why would I take a pay cut?,” Siasia was quoted by SuperSport.com. “The pay hasn’t got anything to do with [the failure to qualify].”
Siasia’s fate will be decided this week even as his former teammates Sunday Oliseh, Stephen Keshi and Daniel Amokachi are in line for the top coaching position.
