Uganda Cranes to camp in DR Congo ahead of African Cup of Nations clash with Angola

The Cranes will head to the country ahead of the crucial tie against Angola on September 4 in Luanda, which could witness the team qualifying for the African Cup of Nations

Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson has named a 22-man provisional squad that will travel to Congo ahead of the Angola tie scheduled for September 4.

Kobs stars Hamis Kiiza, Mike Mutyaba and Owen Kasule are in the senior squad and will link up with the rest of the pack on August 28 in Kinshasa before heading to Luanda on September 2. Coach Williamson has revealed to New Vision that he will drop four players before their trip to DR Congo.

“We cannot have everybody on the squad. I will have 18 players to make the final squad, that is why other players were left out.”

Uganda expect to end over three decades of waiting for a return to the African Cup of Nations if they manage to secure a point against Angola.
