Tanzania to play Palestine & Jordan in international friendly matches

The Taifa Stars will use the two friendly encounters next month to prepare for their decisive African Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria that takes place in September

The Tanzania national team is set to play in two friendly matches against Palestine and Jordan before facing Algeria in the African Cup of Nations qualifier in September.

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Boniface Wambura told The Citizen that the Stars would take on Palestine and Jordan next month ahead of the crucial continental showpiece qualifiers.

“Taifa Stars will leave for Ramallah on August 7 for an international friendly against Palestine on August 10. Three days later, they will be in Amman for another friendly against Jordan,” he said.

Jan Poulsen’s lads are expected to return home soon after the Jordan match for their crucial Group D African Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria at the National Stadium.

This will be the second time Taifa Stars and Palestine meet in a friendly. The two teams last met on February 9 at the National Stadium in Tanzania. Stars won 1-0.

“I am optimistic that the two friendlies will enable coach Poulsen to gauge his players ahead of their Afcon qualifiers,” said Wambura.
