The Tanzanian giants have started rebuilding the team after the Kagame Cup loss and ahead of the start of the Premier League, which will kick off next month
Just days after losing to bitter local rivals Yanga in the final of the Cecafa Club Championships, Simba have dropped midfielders Athumani Idd ‘Chuji’ and Mohammed Banka.
The club also decided to leave out the name of injured Kenyan goalkeeper Willys Ochieng to create a space for the signing of another foreign player ahead of the new season opener next month.
According to the Daily News, the club is also keen to release striker Musa Hassan ‘Mgosi’ to DC Motema Pembe of DR Congo, who had earlier signed the player, but allowed him to play for Simba in the Championship.The club has already identified a replacement in Ugandan striker Owen Kasule from Bunamwaya, who was in majestic form during the recently concluded Kagame Cup tournament.
The decision to chop the players was made by the club’s Executive Committee after a meeting in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, just two days after the Msimbazi Street side lost 1-0 to their bitter rivals Yanga in the Kagame Cup final match at the National Stadium.
