The Tanzanian national team are expected to play against Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Seychelles
Just days after losing 2-1 to Central African Republic in the Afcon qualifiers, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) have lined up three international friendly matches in the coming months for the national football team, the Taifa Stars.
TFF secretary general Angetile Osiah told the Citizen that the Stars will play Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the Seychelles in the forthcoming Fifa international friendly days.
“Seychelles want to play Stars at the National Stadium on July 30th, while Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have each proposed that the matches be held at their respective home grounds on August 10, which is the Fifa fixed date,” he said.
“We are still working on the matter. We’ll contact Poulsen [Tanzania head coach] before naming the team our team should take on,” he added.
The Sunday defeat dented Taifa Stars’ hopes of making it into the African Cup of Nations finals that will be jointly hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next year.
Tanzania are now placed third in Group D with four points, three adrift of group leaders Morocco and second-placed CAR.
