According to the Daily News, Vasalund's Athumani Machupa, TP Mazembe's Mbwana Samata, Vancouver Whitecaps' Nizar Khalfan, and DT Long's An's Danny Mrwanda and Abdi Kasssim joined the Taifa Stars. Kongsvinger's Henry Joseph and Sofapaka's Idrissa Rajab are expected to arrive today as well.
Tanzania coach Jan Poulsen called the professionals to beef up his floundering squad for this week’s match against Central African Republic (CAR) in Bangui. The team lost 2-0 to Mozambican Black Mambas in Maputo in April before losing 1-0 to Bafana Bafana early this month at the National Stadium.
Should Stars win against CAR, they will be in a very good position to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup that is to be jointly hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
