Inter Milan hitman and Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o launched his official website on Monday in Paris, France, meant to “personally present himself to the world’s public”, Eto’o said in his opening speech aired by French radio RFI.
The website – www.samueletoo-officiel.com- comes with a greyish interface offering a cast of a pauperized street in an African city, probably Cameroon, with Eto’o posing boldly in front in neat sports attire and wearing a confident grin, clearly depicting his foundation’s mission of delivering the less privileged from abject poverty.
The principal columns of the site exhaustively presents the main aspects of the 29-year-old three-time UEFA Champions League winner’s mission on earth, as the player put it at the launch ceremony attended by a number of sport personalities. The Man, The Player, The Entrepreneur, The Foundation and Partners are the current pillars giving sense and might to the existence of the player, as he mulls over his life after football.
The multilingual website serves the English, French, Spanish as well as the Italian audiences, intentionally meant to reach as much of the fan base of the world star as possible.
Besides football, Eto’o floats a very active foundation – Fondacion Samuel Eto’o, which handles a number of social projects in poor communities across the player’s homeland Cameroon, and which has nurtured and brought to the limelight youthful football talents.
Plans are underway to extend the foundation’s activities to Cote D’Ivoire, where Eto’o’s wife is originally from, according the foundation’s secretariat.
