Botswana And Zimbabwe Premiership Roundup: Motor Action Still Top After Controversial Win

Results from the respective countries' local leagues...

This weekend’s round of matches in the Botswana Premiership provided the fans with some exciting goals and breath taking action.

Township Rollers are still at the top of the log after they dispatched BDF IX by 3-2 in a closely contested encounter. Ecco City Green failed to catch up with the log leaders after they played to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Centre Chiefs.

In other matches Black Peril failed to make use of their home advantage and visitors U.F Santos came out victors by a 2-0 margin. While Nico United and TASC played to a 4-goal thriller and shared the spoils.

In Zimbabwe, Motor Action collected maximum points to consolidate their positions at the top of the log table with a controversial win over the relegation candidates Kiglon.

Milton Ncube’s scored the solitary goal of the match, but Kiglon had a hard pill to swallow when referee Lazarus Dirwai disallowed what appeared to be a genuine own goal by the hosts’ goalkeeper Marlon Jani two minutes from time.

Elsewhere goalminder Edmore Sibanda continued with his good vein of form, converting yet another stunning free kick as CAPS United beat Shabanie 2-0 at Rufaro to further underline their resurgence under Moses Chunga on Saturday.

Bulawayo giants Highlanders refused to be outdone by other big teams as they also dispatched Lengthens 1-0. Menard Mupera scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot at Dzivaresekwa Stadium.

Evans Gwekwerere was on song for Dynamos, scoring a double to ensure victory over Shooting Stars. After the win the Harare based outfit is now six points behind the log leaders Motor Action.
