According to a list published on Tuesday by the Italian sports media Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan’s Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o is the second-highest paid footballer in the Serie A.
On a salary worth €8 million per year, the Indomitable Lions’ captain is hot on the heels of his predecessor at the Nerazzurri and successor at Barca, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who signed a €9m per year contract with AC Milan last August.
Former Barcelona master dribbler Ronaldinho - who now plays for the Rossoneri - comes third on the list with an annual earning of €7.5m.
Other African pros figure on the list as well but far behind. World Cup 2010 quarter-finalists, Ghanaian Sulley Muntari peaks at €2m while Milan's Kevin Prince Boateng takes €1m home per year.
Algerian trio Abdelkader Ghezzal (Siena), Mourad Meghni (Lazio) and Hassan Yebda (Napoli) respectively earnt €600,000, €400,000 and €700,000 per year.
