Fresh from the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against DR Congo in Lubumbashi, where he scored a stunning hat-trick in Senegal's 4-2 win, Fenerbahce’s new signing Mamadou Niang paid a short visit to his former club Olympique Marseille on Tuesday en route to Istanbul.
According to Afrik Foot, the 30-year-old used the occasion to meet his old friends and team-mates at the Robert-Louis-Dreyfus centre.
“I still have a heart for Marseille,” Niang said. “Whenever I have a free time, I’ll always call to say hello to my pals here, like I’m doing now. I wish the club good luck and I’m happy to breathe the Marseille air that I have been missing.”
After spending five seasons with Marseille, where he made 153 appearances and scored 71 goals, Niang moved to the Super Lig club Fenerbahce in August for a reported fee of €8 million.
