The president of the Sierra Leone Football Association Nahim Khadi claimed FIFA president Sepp Blatter was shocked his side managed to hold Africa champions Egypt in their 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers.

The Leone Stars stunned many on Sunday when they finished in a 1-1 draw against the seven-time Africa champions in Cairo, Egypt.

Khadi said the president of the world football governing body gave him a call right away to know their secret.

According to Africanews.com, Khadi told SLBC TV earlier on Monday that his side performance surprised many people including FIFA president Blatter who rang him and enquired, “How did you do it?

People of the west African nation are said to be in a festive mood following the results and boost their morale of a successful campaign this time.

Khadi expressed optimism that his side will qualify for the AFCON despite the many challenges that faced them. He said a warm welcome ceremony has been planned for the team on their arrival Tuesday at the Lungi International Airport.

The west African country has only qualified for the Nations Cup twice - 1994 and 1996 - but failed to go beyond the group stages.
