Cameroon defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who has been reported ill after the arrival of the Indomitable Lions in Port Louis ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius, is feeling better and could feature on Saturday, according Boubakary Sidiki, a member of the team’s medical staff.

“Benoit Ekotto has been suffering from severe headache since our arrival," Sidiki told the press. "I think it’s due to the harsh weather here,” Sidiki said. “But there’s no cause for alarm, we are doing everything possible so he can play on Saturday. He will be training alongside the rest of the team this evening,” Sidiki was quoted as saying by Quotidienmutations, a Cameroonian newspaper.

Cameroon have been drawn in Group E against Mauritius, DR Congo and Senegal.

The match kicks off on Saturday, September 4 in Mauritius.
