The West Africa Football Union has rewarded Ghana for their splendid performance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The team was presented with a special plaque at a ceremony held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars, of one of Africa's six representatives at the World Cup finals, kept the continent's hopes high as their performance almost earned an African nation a semi-final place.

Ghana were the only side from the continent to advance from the group stages and went on to reach the quarter-finals.

The night's flagship award, the 'Best of the Best' went to Ivorian, Didier Drogba who edged Ghana's Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Andre Ayew to the prize.

The award was presented to the player from West Africa who performed exceptionally during the year under review and it was decided solely by the outcome through phone or SMS voting by the public.
