Benin Appoint Jean-Marc Nobilo As New Coach
Benin have named Jean-Marc Nobilo as their new head coach…
By Kingsley Kobo
After about a month of negotiations with Jean-Marc Nobilo, the Benin football federation (FBF) announced the appointment of the 50-year-old French tactician as the national team's new head coach on Tuesday.
The contract of former Brazilian coach Jose Paulo Rubim was not renewed because Benin couldn’t afford his enormous demands.
Nobilo’s responsibility will be helping the West African nation qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations to be jointly hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Benin are set to face Burundi in Cotonou on September 3 in Group B whose other members include Rwanda and Cote d’Ivoire.
Benin participated at the two previous AFCON tournaments, but crashed out in the group stage each time.
