By Moses Kollie Garzeawu
Despite widespread speculation that he would snub Liberia and wait for a call-up from his adopted country, Nigeria, 20-year-old Sekou Jabateh Oliseh has arrived for Liberian duty.
Upon arrival at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia on Tuesday afternoon, the smile from the faces of Liberians appears to brighten with his presence.
At a jam-packed open training session, all Liberians were now assured that Oliseh was no longer awaiting a call-up from Nigeria, instead turning out to contribute to the success of the nation’s pride and joy, the Lone Star.
The CSKA Moscow midfielder has now joined his countrymen in camp ahead of their crucial engagement against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the AFCON qualifiers.
Two young Liberians were doubtful for the call-up, with the other being Alex Nimely Tchuimeni of Manchester City, who has turned down the country’s invitation.
Nimely has already featured at youth level for England at the 2009 World Youth Championships that took place in Egypt.
