Tunisian assistant national team coach Sami Trabelsi believes that his side are in for a tough encounter against Malawi. Trabelsi rates the Malawians as much better than the Chadian team the Carthage Eagles were able to defeat 3-1 in N’Djamena in their most recent 2012 AFCON qualifier.
“They’re a more technical side than Chad. They have good attackers who play without fear of their opponents. We have to pay attention, Malawi can surprise us at any moment in the match,” said Trabelsi while speaking to La Presse.
Meanwhile, the former defensive pillar of the Carthage Eagles also added that he thought the match was important because it would give his players the opportunity to make amends for their shock home loss to Botswana on the first day of qualifying.
“This match is going to allow us to reconcile ourselves with the Tunisian public. We have to think about winning so that we can improve our chances of qualifying for the AFCON but we also have to produce some pleasing and consistent play,” he explained.
“What’s most important in my opinion is that we rediscover our fans and play in front of a big crowd. We’re not interested in playing in front of a small crowds and not being able to feel warm support. Rediscovering our fans is the major interest in this duel against Malawi. Tunisian player need their presence and support now more than ever.”
