Former Algeria national team captain Yazid Mansouri has told Al Heddaf that Rabah Saadane’s side must not take Tanzania lightly during their upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier which will be played on September 3 at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida. According to him, “small” teams are the one must guard against the most, especially considering the timing of the match.
“The game will be played in a difficult period where quite a few players will be lacking competition since most of the championships are starting late. Plus, we have to be wary of these so called small teams and heed the lesson that Malawi gave us when they beat us 3-0. This is a game we must win because it’s the first one and its being played on our turf,” he said.
As for himself, the player insisted that he was adapting well to his new environment in Qatar but that it was strange from him to watch Algeria lose to Gabon.
“I had a weird feeling while watching the match on television but I’ve turned the page on the national team and I’m concentrated on my personal objectives with my new club. Even though there were some areas that were lacking during the Gabon match, we shouldn’t sensationalize things because what counts are official competitions,” explained the 32 year old.-
