Sierra Leone goalkeeper Christian Caulker hopes that a win against Senegal during Saturday’s CAF-organized Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualification game will move them closer to playing in the tournament which is being held in Sudan next year.
The CHAN tournament is designed to give an opportunity to home based players in African countries and will see the Leone Stars face the Teranga Lions in Dakar for the first leg of their tie.
“We will do our best against Senegal and hope to win so that we can play in the CHAN,” Caulker told Goal.com in the team’s Ndiambour Hotel residence.
“It is our dream to play in the Nations Cup for our country and we will achieve it one day soon,” he said.
The 21-year-old Caulker who plays club football for Kallon FC has been the last man in defence for his country since 2005 when he got called up to the Under-17 squad that played in the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup in Turkey.
His career has progressed when he made his senior team debut against Guinea Bissau in 2007 and he has held on to the number one jersey since.
