Ghanaian youngster Samuel Ayew Yeboah, of struggling local league side Sekondi Eleven Wise, sees himself wearing the jersey of Spanish giants Barcelona in the next five years.

The attacking midfielder said it would be a dream come true to wear the jersey of the UNICEF-sponsored team.

He told Goal.com: “I want to play in one of the best teams in the world in one of the top leagues as a professional player. Barcelona is my dream team.

“I like the way they play. I think I have the qualities and what it takes to be at Barcelona.

“In five years time I foresee me achieving this dream. I’m working towards that, and I know with determination and hard work I can make it.”

Yeboah said that more often than not he feels disappointed at not playing outside his country, which is the dream of most local stars in Africa.

“Anytime I see my colleagues making it big outside Ghana I feel proud of them and I also wish I was in their shoes. I feel like I’m there. One is able to get the chance to play for the nation through that.

“It is every footballer’s dream to play for his nation regularly. I hope to get there one day.”

The 20-year-old, who is currently nursing an injury, says that although his side is struggling to climb to the summit of the local league of the west African country, they still have a chance to prove their worth.

“In football, you win some and lose some. It’s not all over for us. We just need to keep our focus. I hope to recover from my injury in the next two weeks and return to the field to revive my goalscoring moves.”

The former Liberty Professionals player said that before he took to football as a profession he had wanted to be a member of the media fraternity.

Yeboah revealed: “All I wanted to become was a journalist because I could read well and say all sorts of big words and speak the language well. But it didn’t happen and I ended up here.

“I didn’t regret it at all because I can see some good things coming up in my way. I get the chance to travel a lot and when you play well you can earn so much. It’s an amazing profession.”

Yeboah, who was part of the local Black Stars squad for the 2009 African Nations Championships in Ivory Coast said it takes a disciplined player to survive in the local league as well as catch the eyes of scouts and national coaches.

“You must be extraordinary. When you score more goals you get a lot of attention like Eric Bekoe, [now with Petrojet of Egypt]. In the 2008-09 season a lot of clubs came my way but things didn’t work out well between my management and them. But I hope the future gets better.”

The youngster played for his nation in an international friendly against Tanzania in August 2008. He scored two goals for the Black Satellites. He was a member of the under-17 national team for Ghana and played 25 games between 2004 and 2007.
