thumbnail Hello,

Rabah Saadane wants his team to make it past the group stage before thinking of how far they can go in Angola.

According to Ennahar, Algerian national team coach Rabah Saadane is more concerned with getting out of the group stage at the upcoming African Cup of Nations than anything else.

“Our objective is to go through to the second round and then we’ll make every effort to go as far as possible in the competition,” he explained at his press conference on Thursday.

However, Saadane did add that he and his players would have to cope with physical and mental fatigue after a long and strenuous qualifying campaign that took a lot out of the squad and the technical staff. Nevertheless, he has assured the Algerian public that the team would fight through it.

“We feel tired after the 2010 African Cup of Nations and the World Cup joint qualifiers. We’re still going to play to win. I prefer to remain realistic, it will be difficult even against Malawi. We are going to play match after match,” he concluded.

This will be the Fennecs' first participation at the African Cup of Nations since their 2004 campaign in Tunis. They are drawn in Group A alongside hosts Angola, Mali, and Malawi.
